What is Rowans?
Rowans is a bowling alley in Finsbury Park with 24 lanes across two floors. There's a bar and simple food alongside the lanes, and the same building has karaoke booths, pool tables and a dance floor for later in the evening.
How does it work?
Bowling is priced per game rather than per hour, and there's a separate admission fee on top, covered in the pricing section below. Two games is a typical night out, taking roughly 45 minutes for a normal-sized group.
Age policy
Rowans is over-21s only after 7pm, and photo ID is checked at the door. Under-10s get free admission on weekdays before 6pm if accompanied by an adult, though bowling itself is still charged, and under-12s are never admitted without an adult at any time. Once the evening session begins, under-18s must leave by 10pm from Sunday to Thursday, or by 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday.

Two charges, and you need both to get to a real number. First the bowling, per person per game, with shoe hire included.

What you actually pay
- Thursday evening, one game: £9.70 plus £1 admission, so £10.70. Two games is £19.30.
- Friday evening, two games: £21.60 plus £5 admission, so £26.60.
- Monday afternoon, two games: £17.20 plus £1, so £18.20.
- For twelve people, two games on a Thursday evening: around £232.
The Friday admission jump is the thing to plan around. £5 a head on top of a higher game rate means a Friday night costs nearly 40% more than the same two games on a Thursday. For a team of twelve that is close to £90 of difference.
What else is there
Karaoke, pool and a dance floor are also on site, in the same building. Karaoke and pool are priced separately from bowling, and we have not sampled either rate yet.
What is the food and drink like?
Food covers burgers, hot dogs, fish fingers and chicken goujons, with a kids' menu, sides and sauces. The bar has draught and bottled beer, wines, spirits, frozen cocktails and soft drinks.

Group bookings can be made through Rowans' website, where deposits are taken by card. Photo ID is checked at the door after 7pm, so bring it if you're visiting in the evening.
